FRBreathable film and cloth-like back
The outer face must stop liquid, let water vapour out, resist tearing and stay quiet. A microporous polyethylene film, often laminated to a nonwoven, does these jobs.
Breathable, yet liquid-proof
Breathable polyethylene film contains a mineral filler that creates micropores when stretched. Water vapour passes, a drop does not. Skin enclosed under a non-breathable film heats and macerates; breathability is a comfort and skin-health point, not a slogan.
Basis weight, a measured compromise
A lighter film is more supple and more breathable, but tears or punctures more easily. We optimise the basis weight of our films to resist tearing and puncture while staying breathable: a setting measured on the bench, neither a maximum nor a minimum.
Full or partial cloth-like back
We make products with a full cloth-like back, where the film and nonwoven laminate covers the whole width, soft and quiet, and products with a partial cloth-like back, where the laminate covers only the central absorbent zone. This second construction is offered in some countries that favour extra-breathable ears, in nonwoven alone, without film. They are two constructions for two uses, not two levels of manufacturing quality.
